Maine Overturns Love
Imagine waking up and finding out that you are no longer legally married because a group of people in your community felt that you did not really love your spouse. What if that group of people decided, without knowing you that your marriage was sick and perverted? What if, upon knowing this information you realized that you and your spouse no longer had the same civil liberties as others in your community? Your spouse would have no rights to visit you in the critical care unit, if you died tomorrow you spouse would have no rights to anything you owned, and if you have children there is a good chance you are screwed.
If you are currently living in Maine and in a same sex marriage, these are the questions you are waking up to.
According to the Marriam-Webster online dictionary the definition for ARROGANCE is "an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptions." This definition should perhaps include a predisposition for invalidating love.
Sadly, there is a good majority of the population of Maine which now fits into this category. Last nights election wielded results which could serve to overturn the legislation signed by John Baldacci in May which allows GLBT couples to marry.
One of the major groups behind this movement of complete idiocy is the National Organization for Marriage. Regardless of their label it seems as if these individuals do in fact NOT care about marriage in general, rather they care more about same-sex marriage.
